The European Commission has launched a call for the High-Level Group 'European Board of Agriculture and Food'. This High-Level Expert Group will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the EU's agricultural and food policies.

What is the EBAF?

The EBAF is an advisory body that aims to support a new culture of dialogue, trust, and multilateral participation among actors in the food supply chain, civil society, and the Commission. This group of experts will have the following functions:

  • High-level advisory role: provide high-level advice to the Commission on strategic policy developments related to the vision for agriculture and food, as well as follow-up on the report of the Strategic Dialogue on the future of EU agriculture.
  • Fostering dialogue and exchange of experiences: facilitate dialogue and exchange of experiences among its members in the aforementioned areas, with particular attention to policy coherence and synergy within the Union and consistency with private sector initiatives.
  • Policy initiative preparation: advise the Commission in the preparation of policy initiatives in the aforementioned areas.
  • Issuing opinions on specific matters: issue opinions on specific matters at the Commission's request and within the deadlines established in such requests.

Who can apply?

Organizations representing at least one of the following three categories are eligible:The farming community, Food supply chain actors, or Civil society (consumers, animal welfare, environment, etc.).

Application Requirements

Applications must be completed in one of the official languages of the European Union. However, applications in English would facilitate the evaluation process. If another language is used, it would be helpful to include a summary of the application in English.

Organizations must indicate the name of their representative(s) for the group.
An application will only be considered admissible if it is sent before the deadline and includes the following documents:

  • A cover letter explaining the applicant's motivation for responding to this call and outlining what contribution they could bring to the group.
  • A classification form duly completed, specifying the category of membership for which the application is being submitted.
  • A selection criteria form duly completed, documenting how the applicant meets the selection criteria.
  • For individuals designated by organizations as their representatives, a curriculum vitae (CV) must also be provided, preferably not exceeding three pages. All CVs must be presented in the European format (Home | Europass).

Additional documents (e.g., publications) may be requested at a later stage.
