UAV TOL, a drone at the service of rescue operations

tecnologia een

UAV TOL is the name of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) project for vertical takeoff and landing developed at the UIB.

Its main advantage is its easy implementation in any existing low-cost VTOL unmanned aircraft on the market.

This invention was born with the goal of responding to the demand from the Tax Agency, the Civil Guard, and Maritime Rescue for an autonomous vehicle for rescue operations.

The members of the project, who are part of the technical, management, and administrative staff (PTGAS) of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), have evolved throughout this entrepreneurial journey under the continuous guidance of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), coordinated in this case by FUEIB.

The first step towards success was enrolling in the Espai Valida program, the UIB's university innovation program, managed by the university's OTRI. Participation in the program was successful, as UAV TOL was selected and secured funding to work on its product vision with the aim of launching it to the market.

EEN: A key player in the launch of UAV TOL

Thanks to the guidance provided within the framework of the EEN, the project was able to access The Collider program by the MWCapital Foundation. Over seven weeks, the team received support from a mentor to validate the technology. They also had the opportunity to present the project and receive expert feedback during a Demo Day at the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit.

As of today, the project is in its final testing phase, which, if everything goes well, will be completed in 2025 and ready for market launch.
