Global Ecofuel Solutions (GEFS) receives European funding thanks to the support of EEN Balears

The company Global Ecofuel Solutions (GEFS) has developed a thermo-mechanical process that uses agroforestry and industrial waste to produce biofuels, reducing energy dependency and decentralizing access to energy.
We spoke with Sergio Ríos, Research and Development Engineer at GEFS.
Sergio Ríos explains: "What we do is develop technologies to capture carbon dioxide by using waste to produce biofuels, synthetic fuels, or sustainable fuels. We give that waste a second life." GEFS also produces two by-products: biochar and wood vinegar, a product "widely used in Asia, but still not approved in Europe, so it cannot be marketed yet," Ríos clarifies.
GEFS reached out to EEN Balears for guidance in funding opportunities, internationalization, and synergy generation. “In these two years of collaboration, I believe we have achieved more than in previous years,” Ríos affirms. “Thanks to the synergies we've created, we are now on the map, and we want to keep moving forward.” Additionally, thanks to EEN's support, the company secured European funding through the EIC Accelerator.
The company has also taken part in networking events and international business meetings organized by the network.
For all these reasons, Ríos concludes: “I encourage others to get in touch with EEN because, truly, you notice the difference when you have someone to support and guide you in finding projects. You can make use of these services and motivate companies to engage and generate synergies.”
